North to the historic Center of the city that you reach through the
civic center, until you reach the ed of the city. The Relief Map, shows
the uneven topography of Guatemala. The map is done in scale and gives
you a good picture of the country in a huge 4000 square meters area. Then return south to reach the
Central Plaza where you can visit the Cathedral and the National Palace,
now a museum, The Central Market is within walking distance. Good
handcrafts can be found here at good prices. Still going South go to Chuch of Yurrita, then on Reforma Avenue and Zona Viva.

After this, drive back to Central Park and visit our Cathedral and The
National Palace of Culture.
Over the 6th Avenue you can take south through the once-favorite shopping
area to reach the eclectic church of Yurrita, and then take the Reforma
Avenue and Americas Avenue and see one of the most beautiful residential
areas of the city.

Places to visit Kaminal Juyu, Archeology, natural history and
modern
Art museums.
Upon departing from your hotel take east over the Roosevelt Road towards
Kaminal Juyu, located in the outskirts of the city in the zone 7.
In this place you will find Mayan tombs and other buildings which are
buried but show uncovered and preserved areas. Then continue on o the la
Aurora National Park (close to the Airport in zone 13) where the
recommended museums are located. The archeological museum offers an
interesting variety of sculptures and clay pieces, jewelry and an
excellent model of the city of Tikal.
Move on to the Natural History museum to learn of the variety of plants
that Guatemala has to offer.
The art museum will be a good reference of the degree of development of
painting and sculpture in Guatemala.
